Colin Albert Stevenson Bunge (b. Oct 1960) was raised in Suffolk and received his BArts and MArts degrees from St John’s College, Cambridge. After a brief spell writing for Esquire, he taught English and ethics both privately and at an exclusive boys’ school before taking a university post for eleven years. He has contributed to numerous academic journals and popular magazines and since 2002 has worked as a freelance editor of dictionaries and a researcher in etymology.

Moved by a lifelong fascination with grammar and usage, he joined The Queen’s English Society in 2004 and has conspired to establish and maintain linguistically conservative writers’ stylebooks, such as the Surf City Source one which he devised with author Jonnie Comet.

He currently serves as editor-at-large for SCS and has overseen Pamela; or Virtue Reclaimed, Deirdre, the Wanderer, and several other Comet works.
